Highlight of January: Friends of Max patient meeting and TMF AP 2008 workshop in India.

I was delighted to attend the Friends of Max patient meeting at the end of January. 600+ patients and their families came from all over India to attend this day long event. Especially important were the presentations from the 9 different chapters of the FOM with their own goals and activities, and also the 3 hour physician led panel of Q&A for patients. Twelve of the most senior hematologists and oncologists from India participated of the event. This had a very high level of interest from patients.

The TMF MaxIndia team did an amazing job organizing an event of this size in a far away part of the country. Volunteers were a key component of the success. I encourage Maxstations who need to organize patient events away from their stations to reach out to the MaxIndia team to exchange best practices.

Parallel to the FOM patient meeting, we had the first MaxStation two day workshop of 2008 with participation of the entire Asia Pacific team, and the added presence of Mike (yes, our IT Mike) who had the chance to visit with MaxStations and patients for the first time in his four years with TMF. This was a great opportunity to learn from each other and we all came out of the workshop energized and uplifted.

Thank you again to the MaxIndia team for hosting the workshop!
