My name is Michael Root and some of you may already know me – or at least have spoken with me a bit – but as today is my first day working full-time at The Max Foundation I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself!
I came to MAX in December 2011 as a student intern as part of my social work degree program. I was astonished when I received my placement with MAX, because my younger brother is a leukemia survivor (he was diagnosed with ALL in 1992) and the mission of MAX is close to my heart. It cannot have been a coincidence because here I am one year later, having finished my degree, and with the great honor of working with all of you!
I will be based at MAX Global in the U.S. and am tasked with improving our Global Helpline and advocating for patients. I have much to learn from our global team and the expertise and commitment you all bring to MAX.
I had the good fortune of speaking with some of you last year during my internship, and I am excited to build on those relationships and forge new ones! MAX’s great strength is in the passion and tireless dedication of all of you, and I am very grateful to be a part of that. I look forward to getting to know all of you in the MAX family and joining hands in our efforts to improve the lives of those we serve.
