The GIPAP program in the Phils. marked its 8th year anniversary on Feb. 26th with around 400 participants. The program started with a Holy mass officiated by a priest who himself is a cancer survivor. His message was spiritually uplifting especially to newly diagnosed NOA patients who were likewise invited to join the celebration. Some GIPAP/NOA physicians also came to grace the occasion and answer questions from the patients during the forum. An 11-year old girl gave her testimony and thank you message to Novartis. After her testimony, a plaque of appreciation and Pat’s framed autographed message with dedication written in our local dialect was handed over to Novartis. Much to the delight of the crowd, one patient won a similar gift from Pat. Her name was picked from the registration sheet. Some patients approached me afterwards on how they could avail the framed souvenir from Pat. Another highlight of the event was Pat’s video message. Although, the patients have become used to hearing from Pat each time we have a big gathering, this year was a special one. Pat made an effort to deliver her parting words to the audience in our tongue-twister language. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Of course, the party would not be complete without the dance and song numbers plus parlor games. The program ended with the fashion show and awarding of prizes to patients with most artistic hat.
